I am a Thai writer in Thai Art more than 10 years in English and Thai. I am a Member of ASSOCIATED MEDIA PRESS NETWORK (AMPN) USA.
First of all, I am raising funds for artists and youth in Southern Thailand to educate the younger generation who protect and preserve the art of Beramas Kite in the Malayu living style. It is the symbol of the waning moon to be used in official ceremonies and competitions of Thai-malayu people we call Deep South Thailand.
The Malaysian call this kind of kite "Waebulae". It is made from big bamboo frame and the art of the kite comes from ancient tales. Beramas was a beautiful kite used in several ceremonies and competitions among cities in the past. This kite is the representative of southern heritage.
Secondly, I met a man who is the head of a village and he runs Khun Laharn Museum. He told me that the group of artisans are getting too old. Many of them stopped crafting Beramas Kite due to insufficient budget and health problems. For the past three years the museum has been the place for the youth to learn Silat (Martial arts from Southern Thai) during holidays and vacations. Around 30 young children are growing up and some would like to learn how to make the Beramas Kite. There are famous artists from universities who came to work with artisans.
The budget will be used to take care of the artisans and maintain the project. Frequent workshops are required. Expenses are necessary for visiting artists, accommodations and materials for making kite.
It would be easy to run this project because we already have people and the workplace. The competition for Beramas Kite used to be popular with Malaysians and Indonesians. I hope this culture will return back to its roots in of Thai-Malayu heritage. This could help to lessen the conflicts between among people and nations.
This project is based mainly in Narathiwat Province and some workshops can be arranged in Chiang Mai 2016
โครงการนี้เป็นการหาทางช่วยให้เยาวชนได้มีโอกาสทำ Workshop การทำ โครงว่าวเบอรามัสด้วยลำไม้ไ่ผ่และเชิญศิลปิน ทุกภาคในประเทศไทย ที่สนใจในกิจกรรม มาร่วมกันออกแบบวาดลวดลาย
เราคงมีโอกาส รวบรวมผู้สอน ส่วนหนึ่ง ที่เป็นศิลปินพื้นบ้านที่ชรามากแล้ว และหลายท่านเลิกทำไปแล้วกลับมาทำงานศิลปะกับเยาวชน ที่สนใจ มาร่วมกันเรียนรู้ และทำกิจกรรมร่วมกัน และหาทางจดสิทธิบัตร ให้ว่าวเบอรามัสเป็นของประเทศไทย ประเทศมาเลเซีย อินโดนีเชีย มีการจดสิทธิบัตรแล้ว ในขณะที่ประเทศไทยไม่มี ...
Workshop จะมีขึ้นที่นราธิวาส และเชียงใหม่ เมื่อมีผู้บริจาคช่วยเหลือตามความสามารถ และความเป็นไปได้ ..
คงเป็นอีกโอกาสหนึ่ง ที่เราสามารถ ทำงานร่วมกับชนบทไทย ในวัฒนธรรมที่เรียกตนเองว่า
